This survey is the eight in a series began by the Marine Institute in 2016. The main purpose of the survey is to provide information for the assessment of the monkfish and megrim stocks around Ireland and to extend maturity sampling for other commercial species. Sampling will take place in waters to the west and north of Ireland with demersal trawl gear.
Sampling protocols will focus on collecting biometric data for monkfish and megrim and other commercial species and benthic invertebrates. Participants will develop practical and organisational skills in all aspects of biological sampling, data recording, screening, saving and survey operations.
